Firefighting Vehicles Developed by a Turkish Company to Be Manufactured in Saudi Arabia

The firefighting vehicles developed by a company established in İzmir, which exports to many countries, will be manufactured in a factory to be set up in Saudi Arabia as part of a partnership.

As part of the strategic partnership, Saudi Sicli will produce the firefighting vehicles developed by the Turkish company under the Volkan Firefighting Vehicles license in the factory it will establish in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, distribution and service will be provided for industrial firefighting vehicles, ladder trucks, and airport rescue and fire-fighting vehicles, which will not be manufactured in Saudi Arabia.

Chairman of Volkan Firefighting Vehicles, İsa Tecim, told to press that he started his business career as a lathe operator.

Tecim stated that while serving in the military in 1972, he witnessed a fire in a house where a grandmother and her grandchild lost their lives due to the absence of a fire truck. Deeply affected by this event, he decided to manufacture firefighting vehicles upon returning from military service.

Emphasizing the importance of R&D, Tecim noted that they have developed and exported their vehicles to 40 countries.

Highlighting that they not only focus on exports but also engage on technology transfer, Tecim shared details about the new collaboration with the Saudi company:

“Until now, they have been purchasing firefighting vehicles mostly from Europe, but they examined Volkan’s quality and reached out to us. We will carry out technology transfer. Standard firefighting vehicles will be produced there. However, refinery, airport firefighting vehicles, and high-rise ladder trucks will be produced here. We have also granted them dealership rights, allowing them to distribute our products in the region.”

Tecim also mentioned that they are in talks with the Egyptian government and are preparing for production there as well.

Work on Electric Vehicles Continues

Tecim stated that they are working on electric fire-fighting vehicles:

“The world is now demanding environmentally friendly vehicles. Based on these demands, we have started working on electric fire-fighting vehicles. In the second half of 2025, we will introduce a hybrid model, and in the first half of 2026, we will launch a fully electric model. Both will be airport fire-fighting vehicles,” he said.
